Having a stressful day? Well, it's time for some pure relaxation. A relaxing nighttime routine will turn your stressful day into a nice evening at the spa. Here are a few things you can add in your nighttime routine that will help to relieve some stress.
Hot bath or shower
A hot shower is the best way to start your relaxing nighttime routine. It will help to relax any tension both physically and mentally.
Chamomile tea
Drink a hot cup of chamomile tea. If you don't have this tea in the cabinet already, you should. It's always great to have around for nights like this. Studies have shown that Chamomile tea helps induce sleep which can have a calming effect on the body.
Lavender essential oil
Oh, Lavender! One of the best calming scents around. Lavender is known for reducing anxiety by sending messages to the brain to increase calmness. Studies have shown that the smell of lavender can lower your blood pressure and heart rate. You can purchase lavender essential oil almost anywhere. They sell it on amazon for less than 7 bucks. It's best to use the lavender in an oil diffuser. Oil diffusers give off an aroma in the room by producing a mist with natural fragrances.
Take a break from social media
Social media has its pros and cons when it comes to using it. Yes, we are now able to connect with friends and family all over the world. However, it can increase anxiety and stress for many people without even realizing it. Give yourself a moment of calmness without any distractions.
Calming music
Close your eyes, lie down and just take a moment to listen to some music. Try to focus on only the music playing in the background. You can find calming music on YouTube with a simple search. I personally like the app called calm. It allows you to listen to the sounds of calming things like rain and water waves. You can also use the app for mediation and other features.
